Seeking Volunteers for Barnaroo
We are happy to be continuing our partnership with Barnaroo Music Festival, held September 29-October 1 at Franny’s Farm in Leicester, NC. The lineup includes our own AMS Rock Band, Minør, as well as Southern Culture On The Skids, Holy Ghost Tent Revival, Parker Gispert (of The Whigs), Shake It Like A Caveman, and much more. A portion of the proceeds goes to benefit AMS programs!
Volunteers get free entry into the festival, and Barnaroo donates even more money to AMS based on how many volunteer hours we provide. So, if you’re reading this, please consider volunteering at this super fun local music festival! Here is the link- ASHEVILLEBARNAROO.COM

What color is a C#? Violinist to speak at AMS
In conjunction with her performance at Diana Wortham Theatre the following night, violinist Kelly Hall-Tompkins will be giving a talk/demonstration at Asheville Music School at 5:30pm on May 18. Kelly is a dynamic, engaging speaker, who has the gift of synesthesia – the ability to perceive sound as color. She will speak about how this affects her as an artist. Kelly will also talk about becoming a musician, practicing, and performing.
Acclaimed by the New York Times as “the versatile violinist who makes the music come alive” and for her “tonal mastery” (BBC Music Magazine) and “searing intensity” (American Record Guide), Kelly Hall-Tompkins is one of New York City’s most in-demand violinists.
AMS students and faculty can get discounted ($15) tickets to Kelly Hall-Tompkins performance on May 19 by visiting the Diana Wortham Theatre box office at 18 Biltmore Avenue or by calling 828-257-4530. Limit two. This offer will not be available online.
