The Paul Thorpe Music Education Fund (PTMEF) was created in honor of Paul Thorpe, beloved late director of Asheville Music School. Many of Paul’s friends and family have donated to the PTMEF to honor his memory and continue his music education legacy through these important programs:
AMS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The AMS scholarship program provides financial help to those who would otherwise be unable to afford music lessons. Scholarships are based on need and are awarded for 6-month semesters. Awards are determined by a scholarship committee and may be made for 50% to 90% of tuition cost. Families of scholarship students are strongly encouraged to volunteer at least 10 hours each semester, and must re-apply each semester.
For more information and a current application, go to SCHOLARSHIPS page. Or, contact Jason Moore, Scholarship Manager at scholarships@ashevillemusicschool.org.
SOUND EDUCATION OUTREACH PROGRAM
The AMS Sound Education Outreach Program connects AMS students and faculty with our community through free performances and music classes for families, seniors, veterans, the homeless, and people with disabilities at sites throughout the community. Participating youth not only reap all the personal, educational and social benefits inherent in music study and performance, but also experience the pride and satisfaction of contributing to the greater community.
