Get Schooled
Asheville Music School is a nonprofit music school now located in West Asheville. Our mission is strengthening communities through music education and outreach, and we welcome anyone who wishes to study music. We do this by offering private music lessons on a wide variety of instruments and styles (ages 4-adult), providing scholarships, by nurturing a vibrant space for teachers and musicians to thrive, and by creating unique opportunities for students, such as joining a band and giving back to their community.
Lessons
AMS offers private music lessons to students of all ages and skill levels, and a wide variety of musical styles. Online lessons are now available. Find Out More
Bands & Ensembles
Ensemble playing is a vital skill for musicians of all ages, and helps develop communication and social skills.
Outreach
Music transforms lives. We believe that connecting through the universal language of music heals, builds, and strengthens individuals, relationships, and community. In this spirit, AMS has a number of rotating performing ensembles, soloists, and faculty that perform throughout the Asheville area.
Scholarships
The Paul Thorpe Music Education Fund provides underserved students with scholarships for music lessons and instruments, and music outreach programs that benefit at-risk youth, individuals living with disabilities, and senior members of the community
