On Wednesday, November 7, 6-9 p.m., District Wine Bar and celebrity grillmaster Jeff “Rhino” Bannister are teaming up for an evening of authentic Spanish food and wine to support Asheville Music School. A ticket price of $70 per person includes complimentary Spanish wines by the glass with a tasting of small-production or estate-grown bottles (and the option to make purchases), small-bite Spanish pintxos, and traditional paella. Live entertainment by flamenco guitarist Juan Benavides and percussionist Ryan Oslance will enhance the evening’s Spanish theme.
Vinyl Crossroads to open for Sarah McLachlan
Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan comes to Asheville on Saturday, September 22 for a benefit concert hosted by the Green Side Up Foundation to support local pediatric cancer patients in the Asheville area. The event will take place at the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville at 7 PM.
And, Asheville Music School student ensemble Vinyl Crossroads is opening the show! Vinyl Crossroads is part of AMS Sound Education outreach program, bringing music to communities in need.

Andrew Finn Magill Fiddle Workshop Feb. 7
Andrew Finn Magill’s Fiddle Workshop will feature Irish and American fiddle tunes. Finn will start by doing some fun warm-ups and then learn the tunes by ear. We will learn the tunes in a call and response style. He plans to show the kids some “Fiddle tricks,” as well, to keep them interested. This will include chopping, beatboxing, some cool bowings and fiddle pyrotechnics.

Learn how to use your voice in a fun and supportive setting while singing custom arrangements of your favorite songs.
Mountain Soul Party, Jan. 12
Mountain Soul Party will host an early, Lounge show, 7pm to 9pm, featuring youth ensembles, Vinyl Crossroads (directed by Gabrielle Tee) and Defective Swing (directed by Andy John). The Lounge show is in the upstairs Isis Lounge, where space is limited to fifty tickets. Proceeds from these tickets will be donated to the Burton Street ONEmic Studio / LEAF in Streets & Schools. Lounge tickets also grant entry to the downstairs, Main Stage show, at 9pm.
