Student Spotlight: Charlotte Luzum
Charlotte Luzum is a wonderfully creative and unique 12-year old who takes piano lessons from Linda Kendall Fields. What’s more, a recent exploration into the archives of the school has revealed that Charlotte has been a member of AMS longer than any current student!
Charlotte began taking lessons in 2008 at the age of 4; first on the violin and then on the piano. Her mother offers this perspective: “The reason Charlotte got started young is that I think of music as a type of literacy – just as important as other kinds of literacy. I think it’s important to fully experience life in different ways and music is a very important way of experiencing the world.”
Linda has this to say about Charlotte: “It has been my privilege to watch Charlotte grow from a tiny violinist to a confident tweener who switched to the piano. I love her independent spirit and clarity about playing music that interests and excites her.”
As for Charlotte, she reflects on her years at AMS this way: “I remember the tiny school on Charlotte St. I remember school in what’s now the honey bee place (Bhramari). It’s been a really fun, and awesome experience. Just great all around. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. And, I think Ms. Linda has known me longer than any other adult who’s not related!”
We’re all proud of you, Charlotte!
