Asheville Music SchoolFor a Sound Education
Asheville Music School is a nonprofit music school in the heart of downtown Asheville. Our mission is strengthening communities through music education and outreach, and we welcome anyone who wishes to study music. We do this by offering private music lessons in a wide variety of instruments and styles (ages 4-adult), by nurturing a vibrant space for teachers and musicians to thrive, and by providing unique opportunities for students, such as joining a band and giving back to their community.
Bands & Ensembles
Ensemble playing is a vital skill for musicians of all ages, and helps develop communication and social skills.
Music transforms lives. We believe that connecting through the universal language of music heals, builds, and strengthens individuals, relationships, and community. In this spirit, AMS has a number of rotating performing ensembles, soloists, and faculty that perform throughout the Asheville area.
The Paul Thorpe Music Education Fund provides underserved students with scholarships for music lessons and instruments, and music outreach programs that benefit at-risk youth, individuals living with disabilities, and senior members of the community
