The Asheville Original Music Series is moving to Tressas. The previous venue, to put it nicely, didn’t work out. So, Tuesday – August 16 from 9 p.m. – midnight we’ll be reconvening at Tressas, downtown. Mark Guest is our first guest (no pun intended) so it should be a great night. As usual, the first set is a feature for the guest composer and the second set opens up for a session so bring your instrument, a chart, whatever… or just come listen and have a drink. We are going to start out without a cover charge and see how it goes. Hopefully we can make a little bit from tips/donations to pay the guest a modest wage.
Sharon LaMotte has done an amazing job of building up Monday nights jazz vocal session/showcase and establishing a great “listening room” type of environment. Mike Holstein and I hope to continue something approaching this on Tuesday nights. Please come out if you are free, support us and Tressas, and enjoy yourselves. Thanks!
