Joe Higginbotham

Bio

Joe Higginbotham, DMA, developed a passion for music early in life. Piano lessons were started at age 8, but at 15 some insistent friends wanted to start a band, so a lifelong journey with the guitar began. Almost immediately, Joe discovered the classical guitar and was transfixed by the instrument’s beauty and how natural it felt. Studies began at a local university and culminated with a Doctorate in Musical Arts from Arizona State University under Frank Koonce. Joe was a teaching assistant while at ASU and was nominated for a Teaching Excellence Award. After school was completed, Joe had the opportunity to help start a copyright licensing agency in the music industry that helps school ensembles obtain various copyright licenses for performance.

LESSONS WITH JOE

Joe says: “Music lessons are an opportunity for me to share my love of music and the study of music with students. Lessons provide students with confidence in themselves, an outlet for their creativity and expression, positive social experiences, and a tremendous amount of joy.” Joe teaches private guitar lessons to ages 5 and up, and works with students on all styles of music, from beginners to advanced guitarists.
