The end of the year is often a time of decadence for many of us. It starts with Thanksgiving, when most of us gather around the dinner table to indulge in comfort foods (and maybe eat a little too much). Then comes the biggest shopping day of the year, Black Friday, with its blockbuster sales and frenzied shoppers lining up to shop their hearts out. Cyber Monday is just a few days later, when we pull out our laptops to score the best deals on the most coveted items of the season. #GivingTuesday aims to be the antidote to five days of unabashed consumption by encouraging people to give back.
#GivingTuesday is a global movement started by the Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact at the 92nd Street Y in 2012. It was created to encourage philanthropy, bring communities together and lift up nonprofit organizations. #GivingTuesday encourages people to donate time, money, resources and talents to empower communities and the nonprofits working to bring them together.
Donate to Asheville Music School on Tuesday December 3 to be part of the movement!
