STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Graduating Senior Holland McMinn
AMS: What are/were your plans after high school, and how have they changed recently?
HOLLAND: My plans after high school are to attend Western Carolina and study music. They haven’t really changed at all with the pandemic, because I hope to still be able to attend classes in the fall.
What is the most important thing you’ve learned at AMS that you will carry with you?
The most important thing I’ve learned at AMS is probably how to organize and work with other musicians effectively.
Do you have a favorite memory from your time at AMS?
My favorite memory is probably the very early days of being in Andy John’s ensemble and doing solo bass recitals; those will definitely stick with me as some early bass-centric memories.
Will you continue to play and/or study music in this next phase of your life? If so, how?
Yeah! I’m studying commercial music and audio production, so I’m gonna be working in the studio, and I’m also in a few bands with some new music coming out soon.
Do you aspire to work in the music industry, or be involved in the arts? If so, in what way?
Lotkid and Half Naked Crisis are my main projects at the moment, as well as a few duo projects I’ve started over quarantine with friends; I’m always gonna be writing and playing, and we’ve got the intention to tour when all of this is over. So, wherever that takes me, I’ll be fine with it.
Congrats, Holland, and best of luck!
